Today 6 members of Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence visited PA State Representative Ed Gainey (HD -24). Representative Gainey is a strong advocate for gun violence prevention legislation and is currently sponsoring HB - 307, an assault weapons ban. We discussed our experience with the synagogue shooting and the disproportionate ways that gun violence impacts communities of color and low income communities. Rep. Gainey supports our plan to focus on four priorities this legislative session: universal background checks, extreme risk protection orders, limits on high capacity magazines and a ban on military style weapons. It was inspiring to meet with such a dedicated advocate for effective gun legislation.
