On March 1, members of Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence met with Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-18). We thanked Rep. Doyle for his long standing commitment to gun violence prevention and introduced our organization. We were thrilled that HR8 (the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019) and HR 1112 (closing the Charleston loophole which allows purchase of weapons without passing a background check if the check is not completed within 3 days) passed the House. Of course these bills face an uphill climb in the Senate - see our Take Action page for ways to help. Congressman Doyle also assured us that he supports limits on high capacity magazines, ceasing the sale of assault style weapons and will review HR 1236, the extreme risk protection order bill introduced by Rep. Carbajal.
