Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence meets with Senator Pat Toomey

On March 20, members of Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence met with Senator Pat Toomey. Senator Toomey listened to the stories of a survivor severely injured in the October 27 shooting, a member who washed and prepared the bodies of the victims for burial and a child in one of the congregations. While Senator Toomey has worked on gun violence prevention legislation in the past, we asked him to support S. 42, the Background Checks Expansion bill. This bill extends background checks to both commercial AND private sales. This is a significant difference from the Toomey-Manchin bill which Sen. Toomey supported in 2013 and is currently referenced on his website. We believe that Senator Toomey needs to continue to hear our stories and the stories of ALL constituents who have been affected by gun violence.
