Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence meets with State House Leadership in Harrisburg

On Wednesday, November 20, members of Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence met with Speaker of the State House Mike Turzai and the House leadership team. We told our stories of how the October 27 shooting has affected our community and thanked them for taking the time to meet with us. We also clearly expressed the pain which our community still feels and how shocking it feels that in the year since the Tree of Life shooting, the legislature has done absolutely nothing to make us safer from gun violence. Following this meeting we also met with the Executive Director of the House Judiciary Committee, the Legislative Director for Senator Lisa Baker (Senate Judiciary Committee chair) and Representative Lori Mizgorski's legislative secretary. We plan to continue meeting with these legislators but we also need for them to hear from you. Please call your State Representative and urge them to both co-sponsor the following gun safety bills (HB1075, HB673 and HB307) AND reach out to House leadership and let them know these bills are important to their constituents.
